A Toddler's Mission is...

Two little eyes
Discovering what's new
Two little hands
Touching everything in view
A sweet little voice
Asking you why
A mischievous smile
And a whimpering cry
Two little feet
Jumping on the floor
A toddler's mission
is to explore

This weekend I had my niece who is a little over two...she's sweet, curious, busy and in the sweet phase of thinking she's in charge. Her and Eli are pretty close in age (when my sis was having her baby, I had just found out I was expecting) and they went through the typical back and forth play all weekend---sharing, then not sharing. There was crying, playing, coloring, changing diapers, meals, snacks, bath time, story time, bed time and  lots of trying to keep them busy. I realized it was quite a lot of work just adding one more (miniature) to our routines. Even in the chaos we found time for holding hands, movies, taking them to the park, church and play time at home.
And when mommy arrived...Justin and I were literally exhausted. I think we both looked at each other and thought...you do it (whatever it is), I'm not getting off this couch ---but then we decided to get out and go to a local arcade/pizza place. Living in a small mountain community there isn't a lot to do in the evenings (in the winter)...so the options were icecream at McDonald's, taking Eli to a movie (but why would we put ourselves through that after our weekend?) or the arcade. We then rented a movie, came home and snuggled back into our routine..ahh.
